Department of Hematologic Oncology

The Department of Hematologic Oncology will treat patients diagnosed with cancers involving the blood. Specifically, the faculty of the department treat patients diagnosed with various types of lymphoma, leukemia and plasma cell dyscrasias, including myeloma. In particular, the department will focus on aggressive diseases such as T-cell lymphomas and mantle cell lymphomas. The department provides a comprehensive approach and consultation to the treatment of these diseases, including diagnosis, evaluation, treatment planning and management. The department offers a multidisciplinary team approach which includes such diverse health care personnel as specialty oncologists, radiotherapists, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, pharmacists, nurses, and physician assistants. Treatments available include standard treatment regimens and clinical trials offering innovative, cutting-edged therapies. Innovative treatment approaches may include small molecule targeted therapy, immunotherapy, monoclonal antibody therapy, radioimmunotherapy, vaccines, cytokine therapy, novel drugs, and novel drug combinations.
